What to Bring on Your Guided Fishing Trip

Planning for a guided fishing trip should be as stress-free as the day itself. To help you get the most out of your time on the water, I’ve put together this quick guide on what to bring—and what to leave at home. From sun protection to snacks, these tips will ensure you're comfortable, prepared, and ready to make the most of your adventure. Let’s set you up for a great day of fishing and fun!

1. Fishing Gear (Optional)

Bringing your own rods, reels, or tackle? No problem! You're welcome to use your personal gear if you prefer, but don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with top-notch equipment. Just let me know ahead of time so I can make space in the rod holders.

Fly fishing trips include all necessary flies.

2. Comfortable Clothing

Dress for the Florida weather—light and breathable is the way to go!

-Light-colored, moisture-wicking shirts and shorts will help keep you cool.
- Long sleeves and pants are great for sun -and bug protection.
- Don’t forget a good hat—wide brims offer the best sun defense.

3. Footwear

Keep it simple and safe!

- Non-slip, non-marking shoes are best for traction on the boat.
- Barefoot is totally fine, too—comfort is key!

Just remember, when it comes to footwear, less is more! Opt for non-slip, non-marking shoes for the best traction on the boat. Or hey, go barefoot and feel the wind between your toes—comfort is key, after all!

4. Sun Protection

The Florida sun is no joke.

- Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+); we’ll have some on board if you need it.
- Please avoid spray sunscreen—it can stain the deck.
- Lip balm with SPF and sun-protective clothing are also great options.

5. Polarized Sunglasses (A MUST!)

These aren’t just for style—they’re crucial for spotting fish in the water.

- Polarized lenses cut glare and help you see clearly.
- I have a backup pair on the boat, but I strongly recommend bringing your own.

Your fishing game will be reel good with these sunglasses on, helping you spot those elusive fish in the water.

6. Water & Snacks

Stay fueled and hydrated.

- Cold water is provided.
- A small cooler with ice will be available for any snacks or lunch you bring.
- Feel free to bring light bites—granola bars, trail mix, or anything you like!

7. Personal Items

Bring your phone or camera if you want to snap some shots of the action! Just be mindful of water exposure—we’ll be in a skiff. For added peace of mind, we recommend keeping electronics in a container with a waterproof seal.

- Heavy bags or extra gear—we’ll have what you need on board.
- Valuables—we’re not responsible for lost or damaged items.
- Pack light—the lighter we are, the farther into the skinny water we can go for the best fishing!

A Few Final Tips

- Be on time! We launch promptly at the scheduled meeting time.
- Bring good vibes! We’re out to catch fish, make memories, and enjoy the incredible outdoors.
